THE HOLY SPIRIT AND THE BELIEVER – DAY 5
The Holy Spirit: Walking in Freedom
Key Verse: “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. [2 Corinthians 3:17]
The suffering, death, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ have set humanity free from sin and the power of darkness. Through His sacrifice, we are no longer slaves to sin or captives of the devil—we now belong to Christ. Jesus Himself declares, “If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed” (John 8:36).
This freedom is not merely a declaration; it is a lived reality through the power of the Holy Spirit. The Apostle Paul reminds us that “where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” It is the Holy Spirit who enables believers to walk daily in the freedom Christ has already won for us.
Paul further explains in Romans 8:1–2 that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because the law of the Spirit who gives life has set us free from the law of sin and death. To walk with the Holy Spirit, therefore, is to walk in liberty, free from guilt, fear, bondage, and spiritual oppression. True freedom is found in surrendering our lives to the Spirit of God.
Many believers are saved yet still live as though they are bound—held by fear, sin, past failures, or unseen spiritual struggles. Today’s devotion reminds us that freedom is not achieved by effort alone, but by abiding in the Holy Spirit. When we walk closely with Him, chains are broken, burdens are lifted, and our lives reflect the liberty Christ has given us.
Prayer
O Divine Spirit of the Lord,
You are the God of freedom. Wherever You are, there is liberty and deliverance. I ask that You deliver me from every hidden and known struggle in my life.
Deliver me from sin, from failure, and from every form of backwardness. Free me from the consequences of my past sinful living. Break every power of darkness working against me—known or unknown. Deliver me from marital problems, family struggles, bad luck, and from any covenant I may have entered into through immoral living.
Holy Spirit, I desire Your freedom. I want to walk with You forever—do not abandon me. Free my family, free those who are in captivity, and touch the hearts of even the most hardened sinners, that they may come to know You.
Trusting in Your mighty presence, I bring before You these intentions, (mention your intention). Please hear me and help me. Amen.
