Key
Scripture: For
it is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this is not from
yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast. (Ephesians
2:8-9 NIV)
Grace is
not something we earn; it is a gift freely given by God. In a world where we
often measure worth by achievements, God's grace stands as a reminder that
salvation is not about what we do, but about what He has done for us.
The
Apostle Paul reminds us in Ephesians that we are saved by grace through
faith. This means that our good works, efforts, and religious deeds do not
qualify us for salvation. Instead, it is God's love, mercy, and favor that
bring us into a relationship with Him. Romans 3:23-24 reinforces this truth: "For
all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified
freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus."
If grace
were something we could earn, we might boast about our efforts. But grace
humbles us. It reminds us that we are completely dependent on God’s kindness.
Paul writes in 2 Timothy 1:9, "He has saved us and called us to a holy
life, not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and
grace." This truth shifts our focus from striving to receiving, from
pride to gratitude.
Reflection
Have you
ever felt like you had to "earn" God's love?
How does
knowing that salvation is a free gift change your perspective on your
relationship with God?
Take a
moment to thank God for His grace in your life.
Grace is
not just the beginning of our faith; it sustains us every step of the way.
Today, rest in the truth that you are loved, accepted, and saved by grace
alone. Let this assurance fill your heart with peace and joy.
PRAY THIS:
Heavenly Father,
thank You for Your incredible gift of grace. I recognize that I cannot earn
salvation. It is only by Your love and mercy that I am saved. Help me to walk
in the freedom of Your grace, trusting in Your goodness rather than my own
efforts. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
