Main Bible Verse: Remember Lot’s wife! – Luke 17:32

In Luke 17:32, Jesus gives a short but powerful warning: "Remember Lot’s wife!" Her story, found in Genesis 19, serves as a sobering reminder of the danger of looking back when God calls us forward.

Lot and his family were warned to flee from Sodom and not to look back. But Lot’s wife disobeyed, turning back toward the city, and she was turned into a pillar of salt (Genesis 19:26). Her hesitation revealed where her heart truly was—still attached to the life she was leaving behind.

Jesus uses her story to warn us against longing for the things of the past when God calls us into something new. Philippians 3:13-14 encourages us: "Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."

Likewise, Hebrews 12:1-2 reminds us to "throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus." When we fix our eyes on Jesus, we can move forward in faith without being held back by our past.

Dear one, are you holding onto things that God has called you to leave behind? Are you stuck looking back at past mistakes, regrets, or comforts instead of moving forward in faith?

Reflect on this: What is God calling you to let go of today? Are you ready to trust Him and move forward without looking back?

PRAY THIS: Lord, help me to let go of my past and trust You fully. Keep my heart focused on You, and strengthen me to move forward in faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
