Text: Ezekiel 37:1-14

Memory Verse: He asked me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” I said, “Sovereign LORD, you alone know.” Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, “Dry bones, hear the word of the LORD!” Ezekiel 37:3-4, NIV

Skeleton or bone is a metaphor for hopelessness. It stands for endless gloom and despair. It represents a feeling of being at the end of the road and in a place of lost hope where there is no future. It is difficult to be hopeful in such a situation.

This is the kind of situation that Ezekiel found himself. In a vision, God took Ezekiel to the valley of dry bones, which depicted the situation of Israel at that time. They were in exile and their situation was beyond hope. Ezekiel rightly admitted that only God knows if the dry bones could live again. God commanded him to prophesy to the dry bones; he did according to the Word of the Lord and life returned to the bones, which became an exceeding great army.

What God did with the dry bones, He can do with your own life too. Where all seems lost, God is giving you hope again. God specialises in doing the impossible. He wants to revive your personal prayer altar and restore you to fellowship with Him. He wants to turn your impossibilities to possibility. Are you faced with life’s challenges, and there seems to be no way out? Have you met with disappointment using human wisdom and natural abilities? Call on God today to bring life to your dry situation. He often shows up when the situation is hopeless. Little wonder He alone is God.

Perceive: Only God can bring life to what is dead.

Ponder: Only God can bring life to what is dead.

Practice: Only God can bring life to what is dead.

Prayer: In the name of Jesus, all dry bones in my life receive newness today.

O Lord, make us strong in all the challenges of this year.
