Because the World is Wicked

And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness. [1 John 5:19 (KJV)]

The world is already full of evil. We see it in the news, in our communities, sometimes even in our own hearts. It can feel overwhelming, like no matter what we do, we can't change it.

And that's the truth: we can't change the world by our strength.

But we can pray.

Prayer is not a last resort, it is our first response. It's how we hand over what we cannot control to the One who is in control. It’s how we stay connected to God, even when the world around us is falling apart.

King David knew what it meant to walk through darkness. He said:

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me... Psalm 23:4

We may not be able to avoid the darkness, but we don’t walk through it alone.

Jesus is our light and our salvation.

He is the reason we can face today without fear.

He is why we pray.

When you look at the world and feel powerless, remember: prayer is power.

You are of God. And even though the world lies in wickedness, you are held by the One who overcame it.

PRAY THIS: Lord, the world is dark, but You are my light. I will not fear, because You are with me. Help me to trust in You more each day, and remind me that prayer connects me to Your strength, Your peace, and Your presence. Amen.
