Jeremiah 2:13
For My people have committed two evils: they have forsaken Me, the Fountain of living waters, and they have hewn for themselves cisterns, broken cisterns which cannot hold water.

Have you ever tried to quench your thirst with a broken cistern? It's like trying to fill a bucket with holes in it - no matter how hard you try, the water just keeps leaking out.

In Jeremiah 2:13, God says His people have committed two evils:

1. They've forsaken Him, the Fountain of living waters (the ultimate source of satisfaction and joy).
2. They've tried to find fulfillment in "broken cisterns" (human-made solutions that can't hold water, symbolizing emptiness and frustration).

In John 4:14, Jesus says, "Whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. The water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life."

What "broken cisterns" are you trying to fill your life with? (e.g., relationships, material possessions, achievements)
Are you finding lasting satisfaction, or is it leaking away?
Remember that God is the only Fountain of living waters - the source of true fulfillment and joy.
Are you drinking from Jesus' living water, or are you still trying to quench your thirst with broken cisterns?

Take a moment to identify one "broken cistern" in your life and surrender it to God. Ask Him to fill the emptiness with His living water and guide you to true fulfillment.

SAY THIS: Fill me with Your living water, and quench my thirst for meaning and purpose. Amen.
