Who do you think Jesus is?
Today I am going to share with you Jesus as THE SON OF
MAN [a Human Being].
Jesus on earth did not have a good time always as many
people think he had. He went through all that men go through in life and in
ministry.
READ: [JOHN 6:43-70] Jesus was preaching to the people
and they did not understand him… After this many of his disciples turned back
and no longer walked with him. Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you want to go
away as well?”
Jesus went through a lot in his life and ministry
before he was crown and given unto him all the powers in the Earth.
In the bible, Jesus called himself THE SON OF MAN
than any other name. Although other people called him Jesus Christ, the son of
God, The Messiah, Teacher and others, be he preferred to call himself THE
SON OF MAN, and below are the reasons.
1. 1. Because
he was born a natural birth just as any other person, so this made him a son of
man.
2. 2. Because
he was touch with our infirmities and he felt our weakness [Hebrews 4:15]
3. 3. Because of His Authority even in His
Earthly Ministry:
The authority of the Son of Man is clearly the focus of attention in the Son of Man’s enthronement and universal, unchallenged reign. Jesus claims this authority for himself also. In , for example, Jesus affirms, “the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.” He does not unpack for at this point just how he would exercise his lordship over the Sabbath, but the claim was plain, and it must have been startling to those who heard it.
So also, in , when a paralytic is brought to Jesus for healing, Jesus first
pronounces his sins forgiven (9:2). The scribes who heard it were incensed at
such audacity (9:3), and in response Jesus explains that this was just the
point: “‘that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to
forgive sins’—he said to the paralytic, ‘Rise, pick up your bed and go home’” (9:6). Matthew himself reaffirms
that this is indeed the point Jesus intended (9:8).
Jesus
possesses divine authority—authority over the Sabbath, authority to heal, and
even authority to forgive sin—for he is the Son of Man as revealed to Daniel
[Daniel 7:12-14].
So aside his divinity, Jesus came to the world as a
man but not a spirit. That is why he went through pains, he cried, he became
hungry, and he felt the weaknesses we go through as men.
Jesus understood what it meant to walk from places to
places, he suffered many attacks during his ministry. There was a time he run
away from the crowd to hide himself because the Jewish leaders were looking for
a way to kill him.
When most of his disciples left him, Jesus’ brothers told
him [John 7:3-6] to leave Galilee and go to Judea, so that his disciple there
will see the works he does. And they added this “For no one works in secret
if he wants to become a public figure’’. Because even his brothers did not
believe him. Now see the answer Jesus gave to his brothers “My time has not
yet come.”
Even Jesus who was sent from God knew and understood
that there is time and season for everything on this earth because he was a
man. Why can’t we also understand this if we claim to be his followers.
Let us note that, what ever we are going through now,
it is because our time has not yet come, so we should continue to hold unto our
faith and seek for the strength and grace of God until our time comes.
Upon all the attacks and all the hatred Jesus went through,
when his time came, a multitude of people followed him and listened to his
messages.
After walking from places to place bare footed, when
his time came, Jesus sat on a colt and the same people who hated him praised
him and shouted Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!
Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David! Hosanna in the highest!” [Mark
11:9]
And so, Brother, sister, Jesus understand what you are going through now because he has been through it before, even on the cross Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” that is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” [Matthew 27:45] but in all Jesus forth to the end.
WATCH SOMETHING… from PHILIPPIANS 2:5-11
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ
Jesus: who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a
thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant,
being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled
himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore,
God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every
name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on
earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
People of God, in every situation or condition we find
ourselves, let as see to it that it is just for a time/season, let us no
compromise but in all things let us seek help from our Lord Jesus Christ, who
is our high priest who understands our weakness because he was also touched
with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we
are, yet without sin [Hebrews 4:15]
HE BEING A MAN BEFORE, Jesus understands us that’s why
Philippians 4:6 says, do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by
prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to
God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your
hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
HE BEING A MAN BEFORE, he understands us that’s why we
he said in [1 John 1:9] that, if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just
to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
As I drop my pen, I want you to know that whatever you
are going through in life Jesus understands you, he understands your suffering,
he knows that you are going through that secret sin, but today day he is
calling you to more holiness, give your life, your challenges and all your
sufferings into his hand and he will hear your cry.
God is inviting us as His redeemed children to
“BOLDLY” come before His throne of grace, to obtain mercy, to find grace to
HELP in time of need. That is every day for me!!! I ALWAYS need God's help!!!
